It is even more important for a designer to understand the meaning of a color in terms of cultural preferences. So, the developer of a site oriented on an international viewer should keep in mind that blue is the best-tolerated color worldwide. Blue is one of the colors that is unobjected in the majority of ethnical traditions. Therefore, a designer can employ it for all sorts of sites, no matter what its audience, purpose, or placement are. In regards to the pleasant perception of this color specialists state that on our planet you cannot find anything that would be isolated from the surroundings – that is, excluding the sky. This may be the cause for prevailing religious beliefs place their deity somewhere above, while evil usually resides under the ground. It is crucial for instructional designers to realize that all material is unseparatable from culture. Although cosmetics became widely popular in the 1900s, tombs from 3100 B.C. have revealed that makeup originated in the first Egyptian Dynasty ("The History of Makeup", 1). Researchers found that these cosmetics contained ingredients that ranged from lead to cat dung; both of which are toxic. The use of toxic chemicals in cosmetics, such as coal tar, negatively impacts a person's health. Cosmetic companies put consumers' health at risk due to the use of toxic chemicals, marketing ploys and failure to properly regulate their own products and the chemicals they contain. While cosmetics pose dangerous risks to the human body in general, pregnant women and their fetus are especially vulnerable to the consequences of being exposed to these toxins. If some women are not willing to give up their cosmetics during pregnancy, the ingredients in makeup can be lethal to the fetus. Nail polishes and hair sprays contain substances called phthalates, which is more commonly known as a plasticizer and can be found in the material to make rain coats and garden hoses, and its purpose is to make plastic more flexible but still strong (â€Å"Controversy Over Phthalates in Cosmetics† par 1) .When phthalates are absorbed into the skin, they could harm the fetus and, in baby boys, they could cause irregular genitals. Another ingredient, methylisothiazoline (or MIT for short), can be found in everyday shampoos and body washes such as Head and Shoulders, Suave and Pantene Hair conditioner, products a pregnant woman may very well use, and tests have shown that exposure to this ingredient could cause abnormal brain development in the fetus ("Popular shampoos contain toxic chemicals linked to nerve damage" par 2). Don’t Blame the Eater Essay

In his article â€Å"don’t blame the eater† Zinczenko blames the food industry for the obesity epidemic. Zinczenko opens his articles with a personal story about growing up eating fast food because his parents split up, his mom had to work and he had no other options. He goes on to give statistics on childhood diabetes due to obesity. Zinczenko then insists that â€Å"complicating the lack of alternatives is the lack of information about what exactly we’re consuming. over all Zinczenko is advocating changes in the fast food industry because he believes there is a direct link between obesity, monies spent on fast food advertising and the costs of health care. I agree with Zinczenko that the fast food industry needs to change by as Zinczenko put it â€Å"providing the nutrition information people need to make informed choices about their products†. However I question his claim of not blaming the eater & that the food industry is to blame for today’s rate of childhood obesity. After all I do believe as Zinczenko states â€Å"shouldn’t we know better than to eat two meals a day in fast food restaurants? † Growing up my parents divorced and, like Zinczenko, I was a latch key kid. Everyday my parents made sure my brother and I had lunch for school and dinner that night. As a parent today I understand the pressure of taking care of things, kids, school, work, extracurricular activities, laundry, making dinner and then trying to squeeze in quality time with the family and possibly a social life. With all that going on we always have a choice. I make my family and what they eat a priority, so I make it a point to buy health easy snacks like fruit, yogurt, cheese sticks, and granola bars. Don’t get me wrong we buy and eat cookies, and on a Friday night dinner is takeout. But the rest of the week I make it a priority to cook and eat at home. This means planning ahead, it may mean I cook in advance during a really busy week, we will have leftovers once a week and the crockpot at times is my best friend. I do it because the health of my family is important to me and I choose not to feed them fast foods. Over all I believe it is the responsibility of the individual and the parents of children to make the right choices and to educate themselves and their children about making the right choices and typo educate themselves and their children about healthy eating habits. Hopefully with education and the help of government regulations we can help guide people into making better choices and help fight disease due to obesity, after all as Zinczenko said â€Å"the problem isn’t just there’s – it’s all of ours. â€Å"

Rock roll music rose out of the chaos and rebellion found in the 1960s. From the Civil Rights Movement, to Women’s Rights, and the Vietnam War, the 1960s was filled with protests, rallies, and concerts. The music reflected the young, rebellious attitude that grew throughout the decade. Rock roll music originated in the 1950s, when Bo Diddley contributed to its success and evolution. He played a large role in finding the crossover from blues to rock roll, inspiring many rock roll acts. Famous elements of rock music can be traced back to Bo Diddley and his well-known song â€Å"Who Do You Love.† The band, Quicksilver Messenger Service did a cover of this song, making it fit their original style but still respecting Diddley’s music. Diddley also adds excitement to the song by slightly distorting the sound of the electric guitar by bending the strings a nd using different rhythms from jazz and swing. These sounds show up in the QMS version of the song where they experiment with bending of the guitar, hard-core riffs, and dynamics often associated with rock roll music. Music was going through a transition at this time, leading up to the end of the 1960s when music and the counterculture movement were in the headlines. With Woodstock in the works and people getting really excited about music, acid rock took the stage. Quicksilver Messenger Service was able to take the song â€Å"Who Do You Love† and create 25 minutes of crazy psychedelic rock. It is all about the music now. This rendition of the song does not include much singing, but incorporates so many different weird sounds from the guitar and drums. The song is split up into six parts, each showcasing a different style or instrumental solo. The first few seconds of the song are filled with low guitar bending and vibrato, speeding up to be a straightforward interpretation of the original song in the blues and hard rock style of QMS.
